Founded in 1916, Teranishi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. has been manufacturing and selling fountain pen inks for over 100 years. In 2021, they released the “Guitar Taisho Roman Fountain Pen Ink” to celebrate its 105th anniversary, with the meaning of returning to the origin.
This smooth-flowing water-based dye ink is specifically formulated to be safe and gentle for all fountain pens. Each bottle contains 40 ml of water-based dye ink. In 2022, the “Guitar Taisho Roman Haikara Ink” series won the Excellence Award in the design category of the “Japan Stationery Awards”.
Reminiscent of Taisho Romanticism
Taisho Roman (often described in the Chinese character '大正浪漫') refers to a trend of thought or cultural events of the Taisho period from 1912 to 1926. At that time, Japan was under the influence of the 'romanticism' of Europe, and people were hoping for a new era and the liberation of individuals. Just like the people of the Taisho era who overcame the turbulent times by dreaming, the company once again put their feelings from that time into the ink bottle.

From Meiji period to Taisho period, many products in Japan were imported from the Western countries, and writing ink was one of them. The founder of the company, Choichi Teranishi, had a vision to produce inks and crayons that were as competitive as imported products. In 1931, "Guitar" was established as a global fountain pen ink trademark.
