【ABOUT THE BRAND】
Tombow is an innovative Japanese designer and manufacturer of writing and correcting instruments, established in 1913. Their ballpoint pen "Monograph Lite", and glue tape "Pit Air Mini Refillable Type" have won the Good Design Award and Red Dot Design Award in 2021.
Tombow (tonbo) means “dragonfly” in Japanese and was often referred to as akizu/akitsu in ancient times. Since Japan was called Akitsu shima (dragonfly island in English) in the past, the name of the company also represents the desire to represent Japan’s stationery industry. The dragonfly is also referred to as kachi mushi (victorious insect in English) and is considered to bring good luck.
The company develops a wide range of products that redefine the traditional uses of stationery and seeks to offer the customer excitement and satisfaction. It includes pencils, mechanical pencils, ballpoint pens, erasers, correction tapes and glue tapes. 85 Rue Tranquille curates two of its best product lines - MONO and Fudenosuke.
