Doyou (土用) is the old name for the eighteen days when the earth is said to take over — late summer, dust and heat — one of Sailor’s Shikiori dyes, the line that weaves Japan’s seasons onto the page.
On paper it reads as a dark earth brown, almost charcoal in a fine line and warmer in a wet one. It is a water-based dye, made to flow smoothly and stay gentle on fountain-pen feeds — not water-resistant.
