Windy, colourful and drawn in oil pastel, the Hobonichi Techo A6 Original Cover on Cover Keiko Shibata: Dog Ears Fluttering in the Wind is the illustrated version of the Cover on Cover — an extra PVC sleeve for selected A6 covers. It protects the fabric and gives a solid-colour cover a finished look. It is not meant to go directly onto the book.
The picture is from Keiko Shibata’s 2022 “wind” series: a strong gust from the front, ears flapping, eyes rounded, fur blown sideways. From a distance it can look like dots; close up there are seven different dogs set on the diagonal. The warm pastel colour works over many cover shades.
To keep the illustration whole, this sleeve has no opening at the back, so the cover’s rear pocket cannot be used while it is on.
It is cut for A6 Original Colors covers and printed covers with butterfly-stopper pen holders. It will not fit leather, faux-leather or thick-fabric covers.
