Quiet, wintry and printed in white, the Hobonichi Techo A5 Cousin Cover on Cover iyo okumi: Beautiful Season is the illustrated version of the Cover on Cover — an extra PVC sleeve for selected A5 covers. It protects the fabric and gives a solid-colour cover a finished look. It is not meant to go directly onto the book.
Beautiful Season is by embroidery artist and illustrator iyo okumi. The embroidery of the same name is printed in white ink: snow on trees, a warm jumper, winged figures dancing by a fire. Against the clear plastic the white line-work reads like frost or snow crystals.
To keep the illustration whole, this sleeve has no opening at the back, so the cover’s rear pocket cannot be used while it is on.
It is cut for A5 Cousin Colors covers and printed covers with butterfly-stopper pen holders. It will not fit leather, faux-leather or thick-fabric covers.
