Quiet, warm and slightly bittersweet, the Hobonichi Techo A5 Cousin Cover Akiko Miyakoshi: An Airport at Night is a collaboration with the picture-book author. Warm yellow lights sit against a black night — a view Miyakoshi caught through an aeroplane window on the way home from a trip, thinking of the traveller whose journey was only just beginning.
The artwork runs as one continuous picture: across the front, over the back and into the inner right-hand pocket, so the mood of the scene seems to move with time. Look inside the back pocket and a little time has passed — the bear that was walking through the picture is no longer there. Finely textured polyester is used to keep the delicate colour of the original drawing. Bookmarks are bright yellow ribbon. The inner left pocket carries the words “Unforgettable Moments.”
This is a cover only, sized for the A5 Cousin. It also fits Cousin Avec and the A5 Day-Free monthly notebook.
